Menstrual Pad Sewing Skillshare – Pay it Forward to Southern Sisters!
November 22 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Hola folks Skill Share time with a gift economy twist – Wed evening the 18th, 6:30-9:30 at the Arts Center in Williams Lake .
Angela Gutzer is going to Peru in late March. The organizer of the trip has collected donations under the organization ” help a kid wear shoes in Peru”. Since the first year it has grown to not only include shoes for children- but other items such as art supplies, clothes, and sports items. Angela thought about much needed hygiene supplies. This branched off towards women and their hygiene needs.
So with that in mind I thought Of a super simple Menstrual Pad pattern that I have made and how a bunch of us could get together and craft some to send and learn for ourselves or friends too..
…..Menstrual Pads to share with our Southern Sisters……
What we need to gather:
flannel (the softer and thicker the better)
microfibre wash cloths (from dollarama , Canadian tire, wherever)
old winter coats (waterproof ), or old diaper wraps, or PVU – for a liner fabric
Scissor/cutters, mats, rulers
regular machine – if we make storage bags
fabric thread and drawstrings for the bags
We are basically serging the three fabrics into a rectangle that you fold into 3rds lengthwise
They wash and dry fast in the sun which will santize them… since they unfold into a flat thin pad.
We could also make some simple bags to bundle a few into (this could be done on a regular machine)
This will be a great blessing ! Thanks
